On today’s show, the Clan Carmichael USA Eagle Gate editor, Leah Hargrove, talks with West Point professor of history and Hundred Years War scholar, Dr. Clifford Rogers about the Battle of Baugé of 1421.
This episode features a fascinating discussion about the history of the garter that appears in almost every family and clan crest, an in-depth talk about the Battle of Baugé, and a few other topics related to the history of warfare.
For Carmichaels across the world, the Battle of Baugé is one of the most significant events in our clan history, and is the battle from which we were presented our family crest that depicts a broken spear, symbolizing the unhorsing of the Duke of Clarence -brother to Henry V- by Sir John Carmichael.
